Pet Age Calculation Guide & Health Information
Why Convert to Human Age?
A pet's biological clock runs much faster than a human's. Unlike the old myth of simply "multiplying by 7," the aging process varies depending on the breed, size, and early growth rate. By converting to human years, you can understand your pet's current life stage, allowing for appropriate food, check-up schedule, and exercise levels for personalized care.
Pet Age Calculation Formula (Approximate)
- Dog: The first year is about 15 human years, the second is 9 more (total 24), and subsequent years increase by 4.0 to 6.5 years depending on size.
- Cat: Grows rapidly in the first two years (approx. 24 human years), then increases by 4 years annually.
- Small Pets (Hamster/Rabbit): Due to short lifespans, the initial aging rate is extremely fast, several times that of humans.
