About the 49th Day Rite
Meaning of 49 Days
In Buddhism, it is believed that the spirit of the deceased wanders in an intermediate state (Bardo) for 49 days before the next life is determined. The family holds rites every 7 days for 7 times to pray for the deceased's peaceful transition to the afterlife (rebirth in paradise).
Calculation Method
The calculation includes the Date of Passing as Day 1. For example, if someone passes away on Jan 1st, the 1st Rite (7th day) is Jan 7th. The 49th Day Rite (Final Rite) is the 49th day inclusive of the date of death.
Major Schedules

- 100th Day Rite: Held on the 100th day after passing.
- Anniversary (1st, 2nd): Held on the same date as the passing in subsequent years.
